Pedro Sanchez has been a resident ot Taos count v since* 1837, having moved there hi that year from Valencia countv. He is now fiftv-one years of age and has been si member of lour previous legislatures, having served one term in the house anti three in tlie council, lie was elected to the house for the session of 1862-3 and was a member ot the council from 1871 to 1876, and in the last two terms of bis membership of the council lie filled \the oflice of president. lie has-dlso served for two terms of two years each as probate judge in ’I'nos couuty. In 1801 at the outbreak of the war he was appoint-cd a captain of a Taos county com-panv of volunteer cavalry ami served under f bn era I (’an by. participating in the battle of Val Verde.wliich was fought near Port Craig, in Socorro county. Mr, Sanchez is a rancher in Taos county, where he has a herd of over ten thousand sheep, lie has always been a republican since it was a partv and an active leader in'this Territory s ince its first organization in 1863, and his intluciicc lias not been limited*to his own section but has extended over the whole limits of the Territory.
