Staff Report A man who was thrown from his moped and a teenager who hit her head in a car wreck Wednesday were flown to Tampa Bay hospitals in separate incidents, according to authorities. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol: About 11:20 a.m., Jason Richard Bauck lost control of his moped while turning onto Winona Street from Robinson Avenue near Edgewater Drive in Port Charlotte. He was tossed from the bike and hit his head. Bauck, a 23-year-old from Port Charlotte, was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Staff said he would be released late in the afternoon. A passenger on the moped, Patrick E. Rowland, 22, was uninjured. Charges are pending. About 12:30 a.m., a teenager turned her car into the path of another vehicle on Midway Boulevard, injuring her passenger. The driver, Amber A. Ferrara, 17, of Port Charlotte, was in the center lane of Midway traveling east when she attempted to turn right onto U.S. 41. She turned into the path of a car in the right lane, and that car hit the pas senger side, injuring 15-year-old Kelly Kazwell. Ferrara was cited for improper right turn from the wrong lane. According to Charlotte County Fire EMS, Kazwell hit her head and was flown to Tampa General Hospital. Staff there said she was released without being admitted.
