Sentence Thomas « Stiger for Attempted TurkeyTheftThomas Stiger, thirty-five years old, Negro, of Morris road, Am% i bier, was sentenced to serve three months in the county prison by Judge Harold G. Knight in Montgomery County Court, Friday, when he entered a plea of guilty to an attempted turkey theft.In imposing sentence, the president judge commented that stealing a turkey is like stealing gold. He ordered that serving of the sentence date from November 15 when Stiger was committed and has since been unable to get bail.Stiger was accused of the attempted theft of a turkey from lt;Morris Queenan, of Railroad avenue, Ambler, on November 13.Chief of Police Joseph Murphy Whitpain Township, testified against Stiger. He said Stiger went to Queenan’s home for a visit. ,Queenan was suspicious andwatched Stiger as he departed. On the way out of the yard *Stiger, according to Queenan’s statement to Murphy, attempted to steal the turkey. Queenan fired a shot gun at Stiger but the man escaped unscathed. Police searched for him but couldn’t locate him. After hiding out a few days Stiger gave himself ud to police..Involved in Second ActionStiger also is involved in another action involving the theft of twenty-two turkeys from the School of Horticulture, Ambler.
