Supervisor Reynolds and John Brun-ges were down on the 29th to inspect the bridge.*Emery Johnson, who went to San Francisco to have his wrist* attended to, had an operation performed at the Lane hospital Dec. 30th. He is getting along very well.Mr. Salsig and Mr. Hupp, of the Salsig Lumber company, returned from San Francisco by auto Monday. They came around by way of Fort Bragg and got full benefit of the rough roads..The sister of Dan McLeod has been in Ukiah to attend to his affairs, and will probably visit Gualala. No further trace of McLeod has been found since his disappearance over two months ago while on his way home from Gualala.Mr. and Mrs. Jennings, of Modesto, are on a visit to the latter’s parents, Mr, and Mrs. L. Peterson, at Gualala. They spent New Year’s with H. H. Peterson, near Schooner gulch.The holidays have come and gone leaving a pleasant memory for most people .and a host of good resolutions, soon to be broken. The old year ended with a storm, but 1915 began clear.The rainfall for the season to date is 18.73 inches. Since last writing 2.35 Inches have fallen. At present it is pouring and seems to have settled down for the winter.Gualala, Jan. 5—Jtems from the south coast are ratljer scarce. Vance Reynolds and family have recently moved back to Gualala, after an absence of two years at Healdsburg, and are on the old Pogu place. After all Gualala is a nice place to live.We hear rumors of the Salsig company changing hands the beginning of the New Year. All are buoyant over the prospect of a railroad should the Southern Pacific take the property as is reported.We are pleased to report the improvement in Gualala Sunday school since Miss Pearl Briones, our postmistress, and her assistant, Miss Sadie SJtyrus, have taken charge.Christmas was a quiet, beautiful day. A few dinner parties were given, and Old Santa was invited to visit almost every home Christmas Eve. A ball was given in the hall at Gualala which was pretty well attended from all around the neighborhood. Several friends met at the La Loma home and spent the evening in social chat and games, after'which refreshments were served, and the “good night” was spoken before the midnight chime was striking.J. S. Lampkin arrived home a few days before the New Year, after an absence of nearly five years.George Wilson has been renovating and building up his new home (the Fairbanks place) making itlook more homelike and cheerful.*New Year came in beautifully. The Johnson, Smith And Briones families spent the evening and watched the old year out and the new year in at the Lampkin home. Coffee, cake, candy and apples were the refreshments served.Mr. Aaron Wlnberg, an old time resident of Bourns Landing, spent a ! week visiting with mends in our neighborhood, returning to Annapolis, his presen home.Steamers Whitesboro and Alcatraz loaded recently at Bourns Landing.B. Brayton, a resident of Brush Opening, is at Signal ridge, making shakes. *Quite a bit of excitement was caused by Mrs. Taylor’s baby swallowing a pin. The baby has since recovered.The British warship “Rainbow” passed by here recently.Mrs. Joe Briones gave a dinner party New Year’s day. The party included the Lampkins and Mr. and Mrs. Queen. The dinner was excellent. In the afternoon there were singing and music, and refreshments were passed. Mrs. Briones exhibited her art in candy-making which was heartily enjoyed.The twenty-fifth wedding anniversary of Hans Peterson and his wife was celebrated at Iverson Landing New Year’s night by a party.I
