A Wonderful and Interesting Christmas Garden.During- the past week an attraction in the home of an humble Italian re-vsident of Frostburg, attracted large crowds, not only from among the people of this community, but also from Cumberland. Hundreds of people have been flocking to the humble home of Samuel Spalla, 172 West Union street, to take a look at his “Christmas garden, ” as he calls it. We agree with Bditor J. B. Oder that it baffles description, also agree with him in the following statements con-cerning the same which he reported to the Cumberland Times:“It is, in fact the Holy Hand in miniature, including Bethlehem, the manger, Joseph, Mary and the Babe, the wise men, flocks, herds, temples, towers and Jerusalem.“Then there are the lakes, forts, cottages, edifices, abridge, hills, vales, roads, fig trees, vines, fruits, birds and Rebecca at the Well.Indeed, nothing ever mentioned as a Holy Llt;and feature seems to have been omitted.“It is declared that Mr. Spella has been at work 011 the constructive features of this scene over ten yeans, and that it required a week’s close application to put each figure in its place.“At least 40 square feet of space is occupied, and that enough features were omitted to fill double the area.“it is a long look ahead until next holiday week, but the Uadies Civic Club, for instance, might look at this scene at once, engage it for exhibition in some hall next year, charge a small admission fee and win a big income for appropriation to some good purpose.“Particular pains were taken by Mr. Spalla to depict the manger, the Babe in the cradle, and the S3rmpathtic figure standing b3r.“Nothing like this scene, spectacularly reverent in every detail, was ever before achieved in Frostburg.”ait
