NEW MANUFACTURING PLANTCompany to Make Metal BuildingMaterial Locates at El Centro.A new factor of considerable importance is to be added to El Centro's industrial district within the ensuing month—the location here of an art metal manufacturing works, prepared to supply the valley towiis with this class of building material, which has found much favor here.A. E. Chaffey is at the' head of the new concern, which will be known as the Art Metal Manufacturing Company, and which has been incorporated under the State laws.The company has secured two lots at the northeast corner of Broadway and Fourth street, with fifty-foot frontage on Broadway and 140 feet on Fourth. Work will be started with-ing the ensuing week on the building, which will be erected on* the rear of these lots, with frontage on Fourth street. It is to be a two-story structure with forty feet frontage and fifty feet deep. The entire front will be of plate glass und art metal manufactured by this firm. The side walls will be either brick or metal.Mr. Chaffey, who formerly was engaged in manufacturing this line of ^oods in Seattle and Los AugeU*, came to Imperial Valley several months ugo, and has turned out material for several business buildings in the valley towns, Including the cornice for the Heber Collegiate lustl-tue, work for the Varney and Peterson blocks at imperial, and for several new bulldlugs at Holtville.The plaut here will manufacture metal ceiling, side walls, aud imitation brick siding, metal shingles, mlssion-style tiles, cornices, etc. It has contracts ahead for a large amount of work, aud the popularity of this metal for building purposes lu Imperial Valley gives prospect of the build-lug up of another iiuportaut Industry in El Centro.
