Levis bad died at his home in Ossoo, aged 85 years. He was one of the pioneer s' of Black River Falls, having settled in this city in the ’80s. For many years lie was a leading lumberman on the river, and during the early days when the town was, ,a struggling 'outpost on the frontier; he helped to repel the attacks of the Indians, when thirty men constituted the entire white population between this city and Prairie lt;lu.
