Dispatch:Just over the ridges of the coast range which lie west of the romantic village of Willits, a short distance from the old picnic ground, was discovered an im- * menae airship. It was first discovered * Tuesday evening about 7:30, hut the J people then had no knowledge of its arrival, It sailed at 10:15 a. in. Wednesday. The entire population of Little n Lake, Sherwood, Walker, Rocktree and n Scott’s valleys flocked to Willits to catch a glimpse of the flying wonder. tThe motley crowd rushed to and fro in utter confusion. All was excitement and e there were cries and moans from hun- $ dreds of women and children who were being trampled under heavy feet. Drs. c Liftchild and Edmondson were summon- i ed to care for the injured but being un- a able to attend all, Mu mm Reid was v pressed into service, and after .hours of ^ arduous labor they were able to admin- v ister to ail. Business was suspended, doors closed, and the proprietors (except Thomas Saxon, who does not believe in airships), joined in the mad rush. Never before in all the history of Willits didsuch excitement prevail.%DESCRIPTION OP SHIP.The ship was of cigar shape, length 325 feet, extreme breadth 48 feet 4 inches, [ normal displacement 955 tons, maximum a indicated horse power 900, estimated g speed 24 knots. Her engines are of the B quadruple expansion type. The Bhip has a one large sail. This sail, however, will a hardly give her headway, but will be tt serviceable in steadying her In a moder- c ate blow, or for keeping her afloat in case of disabled machinery. The ship was lighted throughout by electricity and the glaring search light adorned the front.THOSE SEEN ON BOARD.Among those on board were Mr. Arm- n strong, hound for Canada. S. D. Paxton, who carried a long knife and on bei^g u asked what be intended doing said: “1 llt; propose to return in two years and attend to the Republican party.” Billy Rice was seen hovering near ex-Judge Me- p Qarvey, but the most attractive personage on the ship was a young Japanese girl. She was about 5 feet 4 inches in ^ height. Her eyes were dark drown, features smooth, hair black, and she had a smooth olive complexion. Her appearance showed (hat no doubt at some time she had graced the courts of the * Mikado.
