Departed this life at his residence near Covington, Newton County, Ga., Richard Aycock, on the 31st day of October, 1859, in the 78th year of liis age.— He was horn m Wilkes County, Ga., the 22d day of July, 1780, and was attached to first class of Georgia Militia, in the war of 1812; and served a six years’I term of dutv in the United States’ service, under themi *command of Captain Pope, of Oglethorpe County, at Savannah ; and was honorably discharged at the time peace was made in 1815. In the war with the Seminole tribe of Indians in the year 1818, there was a call for troops from Oglethorpe County, and the deceased rendered his services to the Company from the sail County, commanded by Captain John Watters, and was elected 1st Lieutenant of the Company —served out his term of service in Florida, and was honorably discharged at Hartford, Ga., about the 3d of Mayboth as a soldier and officer, and as a private citizen, by all who knew him., 1818.
