LOS ANGELES—WUP)—A divin ity student was held for working his way through college by forging checks. Rev. Richard Francis Macrone, 26, was charged with forging the name of a dead soldier to checks totaling $242. A former Baptist minister in Sioux Falls, S. C., Macrone has been studying for a California ordainment at Los Angeles Pacific College. “I'm cashing these checks so I can get through school and get my divorced wife here from Phila delphia and remarry her,” officers quoted him as saying when he was arrested Friday. He said he couldn't be a min ister in California until he cleared up his marital troubles.
