You Won’t Forget Flora Ford’s 85th Birthday?,An old lady will celebrateher 85th birthday alone in a rest home in Euclid next week. Or maybe you’ll remember to send her a card?Vou don’t remember? Sure, you remember Miss Flora M. Ford, who used to teach Sunday school in the Chardon Methodist church for so many years starting back about the turn of the century. Or maybe “Auntie” as many folks called her, was a baby sitter for you when you were a tiny tot back in the days before baby sitting became a business for high school girls rather thana labor of affection by a spinster lady who loved children.* m *Flora M. Ford was born at Burton Station, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Ford. Later the family moved to Middlefield where sometimes she helped in her father’s drug store. But even then she was started on what was to be her main mission in life — looking after other people's children.When she was in her early ’teens her mother’s ill health started her taking care of her foster sister, Ruth. Later when her mother died she kept housefor her father and helped with the care of his four children.In 1901 she moved to Cliar-don where she became active in the church. Her angel food cake, first served at church suppers, was so well liked she had quite a business selling cakes to neighbors and townspeople. For a while she worked at the newspaper office.But her primary class in the Sunday school was the big event of her week. Once a year she held a party at her home for her class complete with games and pink lemonade. Many times when there wastrouble she brought children into her home for days or weeks as the case might be.She found time to belong to the Rebecca lodge and went through the “chairs;” to the Progress club, and the Chardon Bird club.Three years ago in January, she suffered a stroke that paralyzed her right side. For the past two and a half years she has been at the Cuy - La Home, Hillandale Drive, Euclid, Ohio.Maybe you could remember to mail a cnrd to rear^ by her birthday, next Wednesday? ;
