Earl McLean was arrested Saturday afternoon in Lexington for attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of Floyd Howard Carr.Peoples Drug Store was broken into Friday night in Lexington and a small sum of petty cash taken.John B. Crosby, Kosciusko, was convicted Wednesday of drunken driving and reckless driving causing personal injuries in connection with a wreck south of Goodman recently. Crosby ran into a school bus turning it around and over causing severe injuries to one of the occupantsCalvin Thomas, Goodman negro, plead guilty to a charge of drunken driving in Durant Saturday afternoon. He sideswiped a car in front of the library, hit a lady in front of Piggly Wiggly Store, and had a head-on collision with another car at the Peoples Bank corner.Mrs. Elizabeth Watkins, wife of the reported manager of Circle Inn on highway 51 south Durant, was arrested in Durant Thursday nightO. V. Williamson and two sons, O. W. and Kenneth, of Kosciusko, were arrested Sunday afternoon on a charge of public drunkenness in Durant. They stayed in jail until about five o’clock when they paid fines of ten dollars each.According to reports when the men came out of a Durant cafe and got into their car one of them stepped on the starter accidentally and it shot back all the way across the street without anyone under the wheel. He said, ‘‘Ye are the light of the world, let your light so shine that others may see your good worksuy o. i\. rwing, uuraiu aiiumcy.Earl McLean Charged With Murder AttemptEarl McLean was arrested on a charge of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing of Floyd Howard Carr, white man, in ail altercation late Saturday afternoon.The fracas was reported to haye taken place at McLean’s place on highway 17 south outside the corporate limits of Lexington. According to the report an ice pick was used in the stabbing.Carr was taken to the Community Hospital at Lexington where his injuries were thought to be critical but he was dismissed from the hospital this week.McLean was released from jail Monday on $250.00 bond and his trial will be held in Judge W. D. Ford’s court Monday morning, March 4th,I at ten o’clock.•
