Mrs. Opal Shute of Chicago Works Hard to Pass State Ex amination. Nearly all women are ambitious—few are ambitious to be an undertaker, as is Mrs. Opal Shute, wife of Edward J. Shute, an undertaker, 328 West Chicago avenue. Mrs. Shute, for the last three days has been attending the examinations of the Illinois State“Board in a Wabash avenue undertaking establishment. Although there were more than 200 applicants she was the only woman. According to her, there are but few women in Chicago who have an undertaker’s and embalmer’s license. “The examination was so severe I would never have been able ‘to finish it had I not been prepared,’ said Mrs. Shute last night. “‘My ambition is to be an under taker so I can help my husband.” ‘ Mrs. Shute will not learn for several weeks whether she has been successful in the examination.
