Burlock has returned from San Diego to his Monsaback mine, in| o the Silver Creek section, and expects to have the mine in operation short ly. A big pumping plant and hoister are to be shipped to the mine shortly and as soon as the mine is unwatered the work of sampling will be unde taken. The shaft has reached t o a depth of 100 feet and is in good ore. The ore carries values in lead, gold and silver. This shaft is to be carried to a depth of 600 for as fast as possible, after which drifts are to be rus om the vein and the mine thoroughly exploited. 7 A Mr. Boyd, who has been pros pecting in the Secret Paes section, came into town this week and report ed that he had discovered a fine vein of ore near the Withers property. The vein has been crowscut four feet and a shaft is being sunk in the open ing. Every foot of the ground borne big values, the lowest estimate of the whole vein being $20, while many es timates run as high as $100. The gold in quite coarse and occurs in the iron. A shaft in to be sunk to some depth on the vein. It is understood that Flagstaff people are interested in the mine with the locator. The main shaft on the Neglected mine, known as the Dr. George prop erty, in Silver district, has reached the 300 levels and the ecrosscut is be ing run to cut the vein. The shaft has passed out of the vein about 12 feet and it is expected to reach the vein within a very few days. The same company operating the Neglected group is said to have taken an option on the old Hardy mine from George Miller. These mines are said to be the largest low grade bodies of gold ore on the Pacific comat, the main ore body having a width of fully .400 feet, and of unknown length The general average of the entire mass is claimed to be over three dol lars per ton, while there are ‘ommell atronces that rum very high. It is estimated that by amalgamation and eyanidation fully 95 per cent of the values can be recovered, the entire cost of mining and milling being not above one dollar per ton. The theory of this deposit has been sent out by the geological survey as that of percolations from a great vol cano spring. . The mine being ‘the filling of a lake or great depression [by surface infiltration, the acid rocks surrounding it throwing down the metal content of the percolating waters.
