JOHNSON ISSTILL CHAMPION \The twenty round boxing contest in Los Angeles at Hazard’s Pavilion j } Thursday night between Sam McVey, j 1 of Oxnard and Jack Johnson of Los Angeles for the colored heavyweight championship, and the fast preliminary between Frank Fields, of Oxnard, and Jack Lavelle of Montana, lesult-ed in decision for Johnson and Fields.The main ’-event [lasted the fnil twenty rounds and both men were strong at the end, although McVey received the severest punishment of the t wo and lost on points. Johnson who is undoubtedly the cleverest tighter in the prize ring today was too active and for twenty rounds managed to keep away from the Oxnard boy’s terrible right, at the same time jabbing in himself now and then.
