’ C lt;L ,The Wraith of John Baer Appearsto Gaze of a Brakeman.Wants a Second Interview WithPeople of Thornhope.* vFarther Developments AnxiouslyAwaited. The Thornhope ghost is keeping in public view in the most business like way by appearing to the gaze of FanHandle trainmen. Since Gabriel Fickle recounted his experience with the wraith of John Baer, murdered for his money thirty years ago. Thornhope people have been in a state bordering on hysteria. Rumors of fleeting visions of it have not tended to allay excitement and the experience of a Pan Handle brakeman Thursday night corroborates. Fickle’s account in that it establishes beyond doubt that some sort of an apparition, is making its abode in the abandoned well near the old water tank south of Thornhope. The trainman does not believe in ghosts and he is much averse to figuring as to whom the “spook” revealed itself. His encounter with it was disconcerting. As his train was nearing Thornhope he stepped to the rear platform and was startled by the sight of a luminous object crouched on the step of the caboose. He felt instinctively that the thing was not human, and at the sound of his voice it floated to a standing position and steadying itself by the handrail requested the* brakeman to send some one for a second interview, saying that the time is near for a full explanation of the John Baer murder. “Tell Thornhope people,” said the spectre, “that my bones are crying out for vengeance and they are the instruments through which my murderers are to be brought to justice.” The train having reached the old well, the figure loosed its hold and sank into the gloomy opening. Many believe that the strange vision is the result of a practical joke and a few hardy individuals are trying to organize a party of investigation. The majority of Thornhope residents, however, are convinced thatit is the genuine ghost of Baer and are awaiting its next move in superstitious dread.
