Paul EK, Wirr, the Fountain Pen Manufacturer, to Build a Palatial Home, The DaiLy presents to-day, through the kindness of Grit, a picture of the beauti ful residence to be built next spring by Paul 2. Wirt, the fountain pen inventor and manufacturer. The picture is from the drawings made by’'E. Culver Son, architects, of Williamsport. The proposed structure is colonial in style, and when completed will be one of the finest homes in Central Pennsylvania. It will be built on East First Street, overlooking our beautiful town, with an extended view of the North Branch and its beautiful surrounding mountain scenery for miles down the valley. To secure this location Mr. Wirt purchased four lots and re moved the buildings thereon. The structure will be built of Williamsport buff brick, trimmed with Ohio sandstone. The front, including te porte cochere, is 87 feet, with a depth of about 100 feet. It will be finished throughout in native hard woods. When finished it will doubtless be the finest residence in the pretty and progressive Columbia county capital, Buck beer at the Farmers’ Hotel. 1t Lively Rupert, —~= Take a glance at our big sale register ‘this week, 2 - Miss Ida Herring is visiting friends in Allentown. Very little cash required. James Mac gee, 2nd, 225-121, E. P. Williams, the United States ex press agent, went to Binghamton, N. Y., yesterday to attend the funeral of his nephew. Our people are not slow by any means. They see in your paper of the 26th that its proprietor Mr. Krickbaum has fought a successful fight for the taxpayers of Columbia County and saved them over 31620 and our people cannot in any way see where the Commissioners have given his paper credit for the same. The Commissioners should think of this, and it makes no difference whether they are friends of Krickbaum ‘or not, they are put in office by the people and the way said officers are acting does not please the public. When any one saves us any money we feel it our duty if we have anything to give in his line of business to do so, and want the Commissioners to know the sentiment of the people, so if they do not heed they will find it out at the next election. None so deaf as those who will not hear and none so blind as those who will not see. Sp to date we fail to notice that the Commissioners have given any thanks to the proprietor of your papers for the money saved the tax payers, but on the contrary have given all the advertising c., to other offices who have not in any way con tributed to the protection of the people’s money. We want the commis sioners to know the voters are not blind in this matter.
