One of tho most enjoyable And pleasant. social events participated in by New Haven’s “four hundred” occurred at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jackson, on the “Loveland Road,” last Friday evening, Feb. 22, 1805. It was supposed bv many who received invitations, that the occasion was to be commemorative in a social way of the t “birthday” of the “Father of our, .con n-! try,” but soon after the guests Assembled. it was learned that it was the 21st anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. Many social games and sports were indulged in until a ! late hour, and souvenirs for superior-1 itv in “spooning” potatoes and “guessing authors’ names were awarded to ! Mr. AV. S. Hartzell as the champion j “potato digger, and to Mrs. John R. j ' Tlartzoli as having the best knowledge ; of authors'uaiues. During tho even-i ing several very line selections in vo-! cut music were rendered by Miss | Maud Caps. Mr. F. G. Rogers and the j New Haven male quartet, eliciting; merited applause.
