The WldeA\rak« Uunolug Suit Doe* the Work.Yesterday at three o’clock Prof. Flsfc started the blaze in the pit to inflate his mammoth balloon to make the second ascension in our city.In five minutes afterward the balloon commenced swelliugand showing that the work was being well done. In twenty minutes the hot air was surging and throwing the Hercules in all dirdbtions. Professors Fisk and Perry held a consultation and decided that as the people were disappointed on Saturday, they would till her up and give them the finest display imaginable.More wood and oil was put into the pit and the balloon filled to almost air tight. Instead of placing the “pin” into the lock crosswise, it was put in perpendicular, with the head on the inside of the parachute so that it was next to being impossible to make a failure.Prof. Perry placed himself on the bar, and Prof. Fisk watched the ropes and cords. At half past three he gave tho word to let her go.It seemed that she tried to go straight up to the skies. Up and up it went, fully twenty-flye hundred leet. It sailed in a southwest diVection from the square. When just over the guano works, Prof. Perry pulled the pin from the lock, and separated the balloon from the parachute. At thus being relieved of tho weight below, the balloon took a new start and went almost out of sight. When about a thousand feet up Prof. Perry began distributing circulars for the Davenport Bros, of thiseity. The attention of the large crowd was then centered on the safety of Prof. Perry.Slowly the parachute descended and landed justaoross the big gully below the residence of Mr. A. T. Oliver, in the garden of an old negro woman. The ascension Saturday was very fine, but the one yesterday with the parachute Jump was the most beau-tiful, the most daring, and the mostsuccessfully accomplished ever witnessed. The ladies cried and the men turned their heads away ,{when the separationjwas made.JSoon after me jump u frieml£of Prof. Perry brought him back^to the city, when the people crowded around him to see if ho was injured.Tho balloon went about two miles from town, landing in the rear of Mr. John Speight's residence. Taken altogether, it was the grandest sight ever witnessed, and should Prof. Fisk make another stand in Amoricus, he will certainly have the crowd. The trade of the two days given the merchants oujthe increase of business wan pcrrecilyjsatisfactory, who aro now trying JtoJget Prof. Fisk to get up a balloon .ace, and ofl'er all tbe Inducements possible, as they know tbatfit.is unprofitableInvestment,
