The American Free dom Train, the 26-car monument to America, steamed into the Dallas/ Ft. Worth Metro area on Wednesday, February 25. Pulled by the historic Texas and Pacific 610 locomotive, which was specially restored in the metro area for this major Bicentennial assignment, the American Freedom Train passed through many communities en route to the Old Quarter master Depot on James Street (Federal Center) in Fort Worth, where it is on display for 3 days, February 26 - February 28. Following the Fort Worth display of the American Freedom Train, it will move to Dallas, where it will be open for 4 1/2 days at the Texas State Fair grounds, beginning Sun day, February 29, at 12 noon. Since the beginning of its epic tour, the Train has visited 66 cities, and has been boarded by near ly four million persons. Before completion of the tour, it will have made stops in over 135 cities, visiting all of the 48 contiguous states. As the American Free dom Train travels across the nation, thou sands of people gather along the rails to see the majestic red, white and blue display steam along. An estimated 50 million people will view the Train as it moves from city to city. Massachusetts patriots led by Joseph Warren struck back at the Intolerable Acts in June, 1774, with a document entitled the “Solemn League and Covenant. It pledged all signers to boycott British im ports after October 1.
