Chauncey Chrisman, Henry Eaton and about twenty others through their sitoracy, Aldo J. Simpson of Goshen, have led a petition with the state pub. Re utilities commission, asking that an investigation be made of the affairs of the Farmers’ Mutual Telephone Co.. of Millersburg. The petitioners are stackholders In the company and it is pleged that the assessment was made contrary to law and that discrimina tions are practiced and that the books are not property kept, etc. The peti tion is the outcome of an assessment of Sheanede against each member several months ago in order to secure funds to meet the increased expenses of the company. A few refused to pay the assessment and there seemed to be no way of compelling them to do so. The oMieers of the company profess to be find of the investigation was asked for ecause come way may then be found aloot the difficulty and get things started on a new basis. The officers teen having tough sledding to get mon ey to keep things going, with lines de teriorating and the cost of materials and labor constantly on the increase. Vse agitation against existing condition may result in the smash up of the com pyound on reorganization which will mean higher rates for those who want iservier. It is our opinion the petition ers are playnd wth fire.
