LET'S GET TOGETHER!A RESOLUTION FAVORING CONSOLIDATION SHOULD BEPASSED AT TO-NIGHT’S MEETING IRPESPECTIVE OFTHE CALL.The special town meeting to be held to-night cannot, it is claimed, do ought but adopt or reject .the petition of Representative Light, owing to the peculiar construction of the call.A large number of the earnest friends of consolidation will necessarily vote against that measure at to-night's meeting, for the reason that they are not in favor of Mr. Light’s unfair representation clause. sShould the petition be adopted the Legislature would be very liable to allow Mr. Light’s, proposed representation clause stand, thereby depriving some 2,500 citizens of their rights. This would be unfair to them, and it cannot be seen how the friends of consolidation can vote to accept Mr. Light's petition. It would seem that the better way to accomplish the desired object at tonight’s meeting would be to-thoroughly discuss the project and then pass a resolution favoring consolidation irrespective of the call. After this has been done let each portion of the town, viz., Norwalk, South Norwalk, East Norwalk, Rowayton, West Norwalk, Winnipauk and Cranbury, hold a meet ing of its own and appoint a suitable committee to draft such amendments to Mr. Light’s petition as such committees may deem best for the interest of that portion of the town each committee represents. This having been done our Representatives should be requested to introduce said amendments, and see that the same are referred to the proper committee in the Legislature, and upon the day set for a hearing upon the petition and amendments, have the aforesaid committees appear before the Legislative committee and be heard upon their amendments. In this way a full, fair hearing will be obtained and we believe that it . is safe to assume that the interests of each porton of our town would be fully considered andgranted by the members of the Legislative Committee, who are entirely uninterested, as well.as by our Representatives. An unusually large meeting is predicted for to-night, and it is safe to assume that the enemies of consolidation will do their utmost to defeat that project. It is therefore the duty of every friend and advocate of consolidation to make an effort to attend the meeting and see that some other friend of the measure accompanies him, and that every effort be made to express an opinion in favor of consolidationThe time to consolidate has arrived, and no one not blind to his own interests will attempt its defeat. Let there be a big meeting, full discussion and a free and fair vote in favor of consolidation.
