Hon. James McCabe, of Williamsport, is a candidate for supreme court judge before the democratic nominating con vention. Mr. McCabe is among the brightest legalties in the west and his selection would be eminently proper. The Williams-Brush fight grows mer ry. Williams is “sawing much wood,” but his adherents continue to give vent to expletives which possess more force than eloquence. A mere mention to them of last Wednesday’s convention is like dropping a lighted match in a pow der mill. “Can Jeff Scott act in the capacity of superintendent of the electric light works and still retain his seat in the council chamber?” A VOTER. No, Jeff is a sly fox and won't be caught napping. He is now busily en gaged in writing his resignation from his present office which he will hand in in a couple of weeks previous to the time set for appointing the new superintend ent. See? Willie Bill Whittington, the “weeping willow of Possum Ridge,” is going to shy his castor into the mayorality ring this spring. If Willie fails in this race, he may try for the office of justice of the peace nest time, but after that they will have to adopt Jeff Scott’s plan and cre ate a place for him. Imitate your red headed childhood friend and keep peck ing away. Whit, you will get there bye and bye.
