MR. AND MRS. JOE DUNLAP CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDINGThe golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Min. Joe Dunlap of this city was celebrated at the home of their daughter. Mrs. Karl Cooper, on Tuesday evening, February 2bth.About thirty relatives and old time friends were present, among them being the following: Harry Dunlapand family, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Brown, Mr. and Mil. D. C. Bane and daughter, Agnes, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cunningham, Miss Emma Thompson and father, Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jones. Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Scandrett and family. Miss Kachel Hart and Earl Cooper and family.After two solos by Miss Thompson and Mrs. Jones. “Silver Threads Among the Gold.” and “Sweethearts Still,” little Miss Josephine Dunlap i rend their “Godon Wedding Day.” Some favorite seections were ren-i dered on the Victrola after which a lovely two-course luncheon wok served, The golden wedding idea was carried out in decorations of the rooms and also in the refreshments. Golden wedding bells tied with white ribbon were the favors of the evening. Mrs. Cooper was assisted in serving by Mr* llany Dunlap andMrs. Jones.Numerous gifts were received by Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap from friends and relatives, among them a nice golden oak clock from members of the Methodist church.It was also Mrs. Dunlap’s seventieth birthday. During the day a postcard shower was given them in which they received over 60 congratulatory messages.Mr. Joe Dunlap and Miss Margaret Lewis were married at Cottageville, West Virginia, February 24, 1870. Six children were born to them, four of whom are now living; a daughter in West Virginia, their son Charles at College View, Nebruska. Harry Dunlap near Liberal, and Mrs. Earl Cooper of this city.Mr and Mrs. Dunlap moved to jsouthwstern Kansas 28 years ago this i April onto the place west of town about four miles. Eleven year/ ago they rented the farm and came into town. Mr. Dunlap is hale and hearty and the health of his wife is the best it has been in many years,Their friends departed at an early hour wishing and expecting for them many more happy and golden years.This worthy couple is held in high esteem by the whole community, especially in Methodist circles where Mr. Dunlap has held an offcial position for many yeurv.
