The-.Thaw.For a week past wo Lave Lad warm sunshine, and of cou rse a proportionally warm temperature of tIis|_atmospliere, wLich has carried oft a large proportion of the heavybody of snow, which lay upon the ground, nearly, if not quite, destroying the sleighing, aiid swelling the volume of water in our streams, so as to nearly, if not entirely break up the ioc. -Mill Creak did burst its' icy bands, and committed some damage, having destroyed a portion- of the bridge On the Sabula road, but wo hav6 learned since tbat it has been repaired, and .teams are again, crossing.The Maquoketa.“ ran mad” last week, judging from the cry of “BridgeS gone.5’ A number of our citizens turned out, and by a little effort succeeded in saving the bridge near the mill of Mr. Sears. The report that th e bridge across the Maquo-keta at Bridgeport had been swept away, was unfounded. •
