Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Polcyn have re turned to their home after a six-week vacation in Florida. ‘A service to observe the World Day of Prayer will be held in the Method ist Church at 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 6th, sponsored by Church Women United. Everyone is invited to attend, and refreshments will be served afterwards. A Pre-lentendance, ““Paczkowy Bal,” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Mary’s Hall from 9-1, with music by the Jersey Polka Richie Band. Polish foods, including Paczki (filled doughnuts), will be available. The public is ‘invited to attend the dance sponsored by the Happy Times Polka Association. Blossburg Elementary School “Good Citizens” for the month of February are: first grade - Jennifer Wincey; second grade - Amy Smith; third grade - Cassie Connelly; fourth grade - Debbie Stoltzfus, fifth grade Wendy Taylor and sixth grade Diane Ogden. The Methodist Church Youth Group is sponsoring a spaghetti sup per.on Saturday, Feb. 28th at the church social rooms, 11th grade education,and about 12% or 4,700 persons in the County have less than an 8th grade education.” “Our goal is to provide illiterate adults with training in basic educa tion and life skills,” Stich continued. “This in turn will improve their po tential for employment, job advance ment and furthering their educa tion.” Stich noted that MSC hosted the Pennsylvania Department of Educa tion funded adult basic education program last year. However, this year, because of legal changes, the college was able to receive the grant and directly administer the program in which teachers work with area adults to raise their seaside, writing and mathematics skills.
