HONOR S DAY SERVICE AT NEW ZION BAPTIST CHURCHAn Honor’s Day Service entitled Precious Memories, will oe Sunday Feb. 27, 1972 at 3:00 o’clock p.m., at the New Zion Baptist Church, 1310 Asheboro St. This program will be in memory of the late pastor, Rev. W. D. Johnson, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church 1942-1969, Rev. Otis L, Hairston of Shiloh Baptist Church, will be the speaker.Rev. Johnson began his pastorate in the Church on South Cedar Street and then moved to the present location in 1964. He lived to see the church paid for but died in June 1970, before the mortgage burning service in September 1970.A memorial scholarship fund has been established in his name.. This program is for the benefit of the scholarship fund. All contributions may be made to the New Zion Baptist Church W. D. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Mrs. M. V. Horae. Rev J. E. McCoy is pastor.
