Serious Auto .Accident.A team driven by Grover Ernie, 21 years old, fireman at the TbomaeriKe Stone and Lime company’s plant, and a. son of -Reuben Emig, was struck by anautomobile near Abbottstown at 5 30 p. m , Saturday. The buggy was damaged and a hind leg of the horse broken. The occupants of the automobile, said by witnesses of the accident to have been speeding. proceeded ou their way without' izr quiring as to whether Ecaig was injared-The number of the auto license is said to be Pennsylvania No. 11 596. Emig was driving south on the road from Silt;ang!er,s school-bouse a ad was about to go on the pike. The team driven by Dr. Siam-baugh coming around the curve obstructed Emig’s view. The automobile did not sound a warning, it is said, and went on the pike his team was stmc* jnd dragged a distance of 20 feet. Emig remained in the buggy and was not injured.The autoinooiie, 5u feet farther along the pike, ran into the picket fence surrounding the Martin property, carrying away a number of pickets. The occupants of the machine told the Martins that they would be back to adjust the damage, and then hurried on toward Gettysburg. The horse belonging to Mr. Emig is valued at $200. It was removed to the bam of W. A. Wagner, constable, and veterinarians were summoned. The fractured bone was re set and an effort will be made to saver its life.
