Eliza Williams Is DeadOne of the most interesting women in Indiana is Mrs. Eliza Williams who resides with her daughter, Mrs. A, M. Addington at 601 Richmond street in this citj.| Mrs. Williams was born in Frederick county, Virginia, March 17,1RS2 and will he 88 years of age.When she was five years of age M rs. Williams with scores of | others, stood on the right-of-way in old Virginia and saw the first trial trip of the first railway car that ever ran in the United States, j She remembers the remarkable event and can tell some interesting stories of the days when the republic was still young. The railroad, she states, was composed entirely {of wood. The car was small and the motive power a horse, but event marked an epoch in the History of the country, and in the art of transportation which then began to improve rapidly. In a few years the wooden rails were covered with iron similar to wagon tiresIn the winter of 18B6 Mrs. Williams with her husband and family moved to Randolph county, traveling the first part of the journey in a sledM rs. Williams had the misfortune to fall and break her right hip in October 1898, and since that time she has been an invalid, and constant sufferer She has a remarkably good memory however, and likes to talk of the gocd old times. She has been married twice and was the mother of eleven children The three who survive are: Mrs. A. M.
