Williams, a negro,gave himself into the custody of SheriffGeorge J. Seanor.“I haven’t had a single day of peace since I ran away, seventeen months ago,” he said. “Even as I slept I could see Tip Gilmore in his death throes, his brain oozing from a bullet hole in his forehead.”
