During the six years ending 1S87 the net profit of the company, according to Mr. Gardner^ figures, was more than 473 per cent-, and the net earnings in six years on au original cash investment of $000,000 were ££,843,454.“if these were the profits in those days what must they now bo?1’ rej marked Mr. Gardner. “The telephone rates in 1887 were from 8150 to S180.
