MILITARY BALL,AN 1LKQANT AFFAIR Hr THR SCOTLAND NICK 110 UN TAD MFLKURN*Friday night of last week was the oo-euCon of t memorable event in the oul-lured town of Scotland Neck, the event being the ojater supper, ball and Oernian given by the Sootland Neck Mounted Biflemen. This troop is the pride of this eounty among old and young alike, especially the girls. It* officer* are 0. S.White, Captain; I. H. Smith, First Lieutenant; 8. D. Hanooek, Second , Lieutenant; B. C. Dunn, 1st Sergeant; W. D. Shields, 2nd Sergeant; T. W. Fenner, 3rd 8ergeant; C. H. Cooke, 4th Sergeant; Dudley Parks 5th Sergeant; Willie Haocook, 1st Corporal; W. E. Barkley, 2nd Corporal; W. N. Steptoe, 3rd Corporal; J. B. Dunn, 4th Corporal;P. W. Farrington, 5th Corporal.At 8:30 o'elook supper was announced and the Company and their invited guests, among the latter of whom was the writer, assembled around the tables of tbe large dining room of the new brick hotel and enjoyed a tempting anpper prepared and served by mine host Morrisett, a veteran hotellist. It was well conducted in every reepoet and hoste and guests enjoyed it alike. Supper was over about 10:30, at whiohtime daneing began in Pittman’* ball. The musio was good and the floor in excellent oondition, and it is therefore useless to say that it was greatly enjoyed* Thers were cotillions and waltses until 12:30 when the German began, lead by Mr. Luther Purrington with Miss Lou Hill, of Halifax. Tbe figures were iotri. onto and pretty, and not a mistake was made during the three hours occupied in danoiug it. But it Is useless to say more of this oh arming affair. The faot that the Riflemen were in charge of it was I sufficient guarantee that it would be as it should be. There are thirty-si i of them,and everyone of them feels on all occasions I that the honor and the reputation of the I entire troop is partly dependent upon him, I and not yet has one failed.Among the ladies prssent wars:Mrs. P.
