Mrs. Ilene Waltman , Mrs. Jack Tuma and Mrs. Ivin Slater were guests on day night in Clifton at a American Legion Auxil iary meeting at which Mrs. Tuma, the first district Americanism chairman, had been invited to give a talk to the Clifton members. ’ Feb. 15 the Home Exten sion Unit met in the home of the president, Mrs. Rob ert Fiser, for a 12:30 lunch eon. A two o'clock meeting was held to have all mem bers repeat the collect and 43 members answered the roll call, including a new mem ber, Mrs. Luther Goebel. Mrs. A. H. Taylor gave a re port of the Advisory Com mittee meeting. Feb. 6 which she had attended. Plans were made for the Heart fund canvas, and the club voted to give $2 to the cause. Mrs. Albert Veatch gave the lesson, “Meals and Money.” The hostess for the March meeting will be Mrs. Beulah Coonrod. Attend California Wedding Mrs. Alice Sorell left Wednesday, to = _ join her daughter, Mrs. Lowell Bus well of Topeka, in Salina to to Colorado Springs, Colo. From there ,they were to accompany Dean Sorell to Drive to Merced, Calif., to be present at the wedding of their son and brother, Ane Louis Sorell, to Miss Sharron Anne Kappe of Merced. Mrs. Charles Krasnicka, Mrs. Norman Scott, Mrs. Al fred Miller and Mrs. Robert B. Henderson attended the W. C. T. U. tea in the Pres byterian church in Munden Wednesday afternoon. The program honoring Frances E. Willard was followed by an exhibition of paintings by a local artist, Mrs. Blanche Horak. . Mrs. Mabie Kennedy and Mrs. Peggy Carlson and son Kevin and Rex Wells of Lin coln, Neb., drove to Man hattan-Sunday to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Har old Kennedy and children. Mr. and Mrs.Leslie Lowe entertained at dinner Sun day in observance of the fourth birthday of their grandson, Ronnie Swanson of Belleville, to have the fol lowing guests present, Ron nie’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Swanson and Douglas of Belleville, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reiman and daughter of Barneston, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Lowe and family and Mrs. May Lowe. Besides their social affairs they have worked to con tribute the following to over seas: $15 to the American Missions hospital in Assau, Egypt; $25.10 to send a box of new clothing to Viet Nam; a box of new and used clothing to Thailand; $5 to National Missions; $5 to the Aljate Mission in Rayenta, Ariz.; $5 to More City, N. M. to help buy a projector; 37 pair of eye glasses sent to Short Hills, N. J.; new clothing and three quilts to the Embudo Presbyterian hospital in Embudo, N. M. valued at $25; Christmas box to the Tumba City, mis sion, N. M. valued at $40; $3.50 to Hol N. M., for hymnals or Bibles; six boxes sent to the Salvation Army; box sent to the Martin Lu ther Home, Beatrice; a do nation to the Greenwood family, Fairbury; 7 boxes of used clothing to Tuba City, Ariz.; 110 Ibs. used clothing to World Service; seven boxes sent to World service in November, and one circle sent $19 to the Topeka Tornado people. Mrs. Hene Waltman and Mrs. Enna Buchmeier of Fairbury drove to Lincoln to be overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Lowe and Childrén, and all attended the Ice Capades that after noon. Following the Haddam- Axtell basketball game , Sat urday night, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stehno and children ‘had as coffee guests Mr. and Mrs. John Lackey, Gregg, Chris and David, of Jamestown. Mrs. Mabel Kennedy and Mrs. Peggy’ Carlson’ and son Kevin drove to Salina Tuesday, Feb. 21, to take Kevin to his doctor for a checkup. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne _Gra ham of Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. Butch Bahlken of Wy more and Marvin Parrack of Osborne, Kas., were Sun day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Parrack. Mrs. Eifel Cobb of Kansas City came Wednesday to spend a few weeks with her sister, Mrs. Roy Eversole and Mr. Eversole. Annual Valentine Party The annual Valentine par ty of the Hopewell Supper club was held Feb. 14 at the Mary-Etta Hotel in Fair bury. The women were en tertained by the men with a four-course dinner. Five ta bles of pitch were in play following the evening meal. Prizes for high score were won by Ruth Metzger and Owain. Compton, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Slater received prizes for law. Traveling prizes went to Mrs. Alice McIntosh and Jack Tuma. Hosts for the evening were Henry Peterson and Harry Peake. Dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tuma, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Fiser, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Compton, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Comp ton, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Slater, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tuma, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peake, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson, Mrs. Ruth Metzger, Mrs. Alice McIntosh and Dwain Compton. Red and white was used throughout the decora tions.. Hosts for next year will be Louis Fiser and Jack Tuma. The Hopewell — Desserts held the monthly card par ty at the Hopewell Commun ity Center Feb. 14. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Goebel and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fiser were hosts for the evening. Mrs. Luther Goebel and Wayne Rose won high honors, and Mrs. Wayne Rose and Guy Spradling low, with the traveling prize to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rose. The next meeting will be March 18 to have Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parrack and Mr. and Mrs. Luther Goebel as the hosts. THE HOME TEAM WIRTHE “Well, how did you do on those new skates?”
