NAACP NEWSThe newly formed labor and industry committee of the Maricopa County chapter of NAACP met with Mayor Sam Mardian, Thursday, Feb. 16, to discuss problems of discriminatory hiring practices of the city’s personnel department.Members attending were Rev. G.B.Brooks, local pres., Hazel Daniels, Herbert Ely, W.A.Rob-inson, Lincoln Ragsdale and J. S. Jones.Committee members not attending included Travis Williams and Bert Lewis.No specific incidents of discrimination were presented, but the probabilities were mentioned. Negro applicants and others have felt that the testing procedures are not always unbiased.
