Given a Preliminary Hear ing Before Commissioner Burton This Morning on Grand Larceny. TALKS VERY LITTLE He Did Not Question Any of Witnesses; Effects of Murdered Woman Pos itively Identified. Jack Gaslow was bound over to the grand jury on a charge of grand larceny by Judge Newark L. Burton following Gaslow’s preliminary hear ing in the Commissioner's Court this morning. Gaslow's bond was placed at $5,000. Jack Gaslow was arrested at Skag way a week ago in connnection with the Investigation which followed the murder of Myra Schmidt. At the time of his arrest, at the quarantine sta tion in Skagway where he was plac ed upon the arrival from Juneau on the Estebeth, Gaslow had in his possession a suitcase containing a seal skin jacket, a set of mink furs and miscellaneous wearing apparel which have been identified as prop erty of the murdered woman. He was arraigned at the Commissioner's Court in Skagway and brought to Juneau for his preliminary hearing. N. B. Hardy, Deputy United States Marshal at Skagway, as a witness, in court this morning established the fact that Gaslow ‘had the suitcase containing the articles belonging to Myra Schmidt In his possession at the time of his arrest in Skagway. The suitcase, which has also been identified as the property of Myra Schmidt, contained at the time it was examined in Skagway, the Tur coat, mink set and other articles, 77 in alll which were produced in court at his hearing this morning. Annie Bonner positively identified the seal skin jacket and mink set as the property of Myra Schmidt. She said that she saw Myra Schmidt wear it the night she came to Juneau and that she told her that it cost $305. Deputy Marshal Harry F. Mor ton had testified that he found the bill of the Hudson Bay Company in her cabin for a fur coat valued at $305. Lillian Rogers also appeared as a witness and testified that she had seen Myra Schmidt wear the coat H. Fukuyama, of the Juneau Laun dry, who did the laundry work for the Schmidt woman, identified the laundry mark on some of the lingerie. In the suitcase, The contents of the suitcase had been valued at about $600. Following the hearing this morning it was re marked that the selection of article | in the suitcase had evidently been, made for their value as they were all in good condition and could easily have been disposed of for money Some of the Magerie had never been worn. Following the testimony of the witnesses, Gaslow was asked if he had any statement to make. He re plied that this was about the fourth time he had been in Court and that he had nothing further to say. Judge Burton reminded him that this was
