Arrested.—Philip Brent, a. well kn jwu colored individual of this city, c was arrested last Tuesday night on the charge of stealing eoal from a car in the B. 0. freight yards. For some time past coal has been missed from the cirsby our coal dealers, and on Tuesday night Chief of Police Sea- | bright and his assistant Addison Hen ry, resolved to watch and tfapture the I ; thief if possible. They did not have long to wait, however, for in a short time Philip Brent was observetLin the act of filling a bag, or some other receptacle, from a car consigned to Mr. W. W. Wall. He was placed under arrest and escorted to jail where ! e remained until the next day, when 1 e was given a heaving. The result wa« uiat he was sent back to that institution for a period of (JO days, and whlt; n the weather will permit, he will be allowed to exercise his muscles on the chain gang.
