In 1967 she received the Neiman Marcus award for ‘‘transforming the handicraft look of Italy to clothes to be worn in the most sophisticated resorts by the most sophisticated women.”“There are so many things you cannot understand about America unless you come here,” she said. “You don’t know about air conditioning. You don't know that a woman can be in a very warm climate, but freeze when she is in a restaurant.Her clothes are sold in cities throughout the United States, and she comes over three times a year to show' the collection.“This year I think I will cut down.” Lydia said. “I am too much away from my business. Problems are growing every day. We are going through a very difficult time all over Europe. The world is changing. We need a Renaissance!”
