The occasion was an entertainment given in honor of a number of the colored soldiers ot Cisinp l^ee, Petersburg, Viu, by the ladies' auxiliary of the association,' and the large assemblage of uniform j ed men together with the flags and other decorations gave the rooms a war -like appearance.A special program was rendered by some of the city’s best talent. “Ameri ca,” sung by the assemblage was : the opening number. Mr. George H. j Hen Johnson offered prayer, after which a pleasing solo was rendorod by Miss Sanada Morris. Miss Alice H. Smith, elocutionist, was at her best in a patriotic recitation and Mrs. Olivia \V. Smith sweetly sang a'.solo.Brief remarks wore made by Corporals, C. P. Hayes, Gideon Smith, Wilton West and Sergeant H. 1). Page who expressed great pleasure in being entertained by the young ladies. jMrs. A1 vert a V.
