CampThe American Lung Association of Maryland is accepting applications for Camp Superkids, an overnight camp for children with asthma. Camp Superkids will be held at the Camp Friendship facility in Laytonsville from Sunday. July 7. through Friday, July 12. Camp Superkids is designed to involve children with moderate to severe asthma, ages 7 1/2 to 12, in traditional camp activities ranging from swimming and sports to arts and crafts. An asthma education component and medical supervision are included to meet the campers’ special needs. Daily programs build asthma management skills and provide opportunities for personal growth in the areas of responsibility, cooperation, decision-making, and self-confidence. The camp features air-conditioned cabins situated on breathtaking grounds with a pool and pond. The application deadline is June 7. The cost for camp is $210. A limited number of financial scholarships based on demonstrated need are available.
