One Negro Wat Shot.Savannah, Oa., Feb. 17.—A long distance telephone message to the Savannah Press from Statesboro aaya that an attempted criminal assault was made thla morning upon lira. Hath Howard at her home three miles from Statesboro. The met-aage states that one negro has been shot and la expected to die. Another Is being chased by a sheriff’s pos-fgfend If caught will in all probat fflty be lynched by Infuriated ci tens of the county,Mrs. Howard ran out of the house when -the negroes appeared this morning, and they followed her.Her scream* brought J. D. Smith, I tc a neighbor.
