One cause of business in the city being a dull was learned of this week, and shows the manner in which some of the Bran don people help their town merchants. The Arena was packed with about 7000 people Judge Walker in Winnipeg on Thurs day delivered judgement in the matter of appeal of Henry Woods against the decision of Magistrate Peebles, by which he was fined $50 and costs for practicing medicine without a license. Joseph Pilgrim had a cancer on his lip and went to Woods, who agreed to cure him for $25. Woods put a plaster on and gave directions as to diet, but as Pilgrim did not recover he went to the hospital, where, after a while, he died. The medical association took pro ceedines nvgainst Wood. Judea Walker held that Wood could not be said to have no medicine’ within the rearing the medical act and he quashed the conviction. Wood is well known in Brandon, having cured sev eral persons here of cancer.
