MR. MAHOOD DEAD. Sunday night at 9:40 at his residence, 421 Church avenue, Alexander B. Ma hood, an old and highly respected citizen of this city, passed quietly away after but a short docns of heart disease. Mr. Mahbood was born in Petersburg almost 7d years ago and received his first busi ness training in a Petersboro bank. Twenty-five years ago he became assist act treasurer of the Atlantic, Mississippi and Ohio Railroad Company and re mained with that company until it was merged vto the Norfolk and Westren and since that time he has been employed by that company and thus always held re sponsible positions which he filled with accuracy and efficiency. While yet a young man he became a member of the Methodist Church and at once entered eagerly into the work of spreading the religion of Christ. In 1877 having moved to Lynchburg he connected himself with the Memorial Methodist Church of that city, and became the superintendent of the Sunday school which postion he held until about two and win half years ago when he moved to this city. After com ing to this city he immediately became connected with Trinity Methodist Church and was always active in all church work. He was a man and a Christian in the fullest meaning of the word and in his death this commuoity has lost one of its best citizens whose uprightness and Christian beariness worthy of eumutation his wife died about three years ngo and he never fully recovered from the shock caused by her death Within a few months prior to his death Mr. Mahood had been compelled by failing health, to give up a very responsible position in the auditor's office of the Norfolk and Wes tern which he had flea for many years with untiring energy and accuracy. THe leaves a lures family, six daughters and three sons was a large number of friends to whose hearts his death brings sorrow ao pain. Three of his darpesters, Misses Fannie, Grace and Lillie reside in the city while two married daughters live in Lynchburg, they toine Mrs M. J. Sheley and Mrs. L. C. Horner, and an other wired laughter, Mrs. Porter Harey, lives at Enfield, Hanover county. Of his sons Ohm A. Mahood lives in Lynchburg while the other two GC. P. and Wrack Mahood live here. The funeral will take place #b5 p.m. this afternoon from the family residence, to which all the friends of the family are invited to Attend, and the remains will be taken to Petersburg to-night for interese at Wed nesday morning in the Blanford Ceme tery. 'The funeral cortege will leave the Petersburg depot for the cemetery at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday morning. The Honorary pall-bearers are: J. 8. Wynne, Joy Ro Lney, J. DB. Andrews, HH. D. Guy, W. H. Maxlewood, I. Blair, J. HH. Dunningtag, Gooch Wallushen, Capt. A. G. Williams, W. Rh. Moore, Dr. John Ix ard. Following are these five pall bear ers: Jon. W. Coxe, R J. Anderson, 0 Kinder, R. Ts.
