Smith had warm and appreciative friend* In this city who will mournher death with profound and heartfelt •orrow.It ia difficult, to realize a woman more refined and exemplary in every respect than wp Mr*. Smith. Her death occurred very suddenly oa the evening of the 11th. in litifTaln, |whde vDiliug her friend Mr* K. T. Smith, mater of the lafe Jaruca I). Warren. At the time of her death her husband wa* ia Cleveland, and her daughter in New York. It was a •ad and terrible blow in a happy household, and vail* in sadness one of the pleasantest aud moat luxurious homes in wetteru New York. While a young lady Mr*. Smith, whose maiden name waa Susan llalconr, a daughter of Judge Lyman Balcom of Painted Poat, this state, lived in this city a year or twoiu the family of the Kev, larwl* Hamilton, pastor of the Presbyterian church, whose wife wa* an older sister of Miss Haleoni. Mrs. Smith was an active member of th* Presbyterian church in Olean; anti berloss will be keenly felt by all who were so constantly the reolpunta of her never ceasing deeds of charity and klndtus*.
