Lowe, Bannock county school superintendent said Friday,Voters in the elections must be qualified voters in Idaho and must fill at least one of three other qualifications, Lowe said. Theymust be parents or guardians of persons under 21 years of age, or be taxpayers in the district in which they vote, or be husbands or wives of taxpayers in that district.Electors will decide whether Pocatello Independent School district No. 1 will be merged with Independent School District 46 at Inkom and Common School District No. 56, Portneuf, to be known as Class A. School District No. 1, Bannock county.Mr. Lowe said in this election, because of the overwhelming majority of voters living in the Pocatello area, a majority vote in each district will be required.He said, however, In the matter of reorganization of a number of other districts into Class A School District No. 2, Marsh Valley, a simple majority of all votes cast would decide the question.The proposed No. 2 district would combine Independent School districts numbers 16, Arimo; 24, McCammon; 30, Lava Hot Springs; 53, Downey; and Common School districts numbers 3, Swan Lake; 5, Robin; 39, Hawkins Basin; and 45, Virginia.In the election to determine whether the Class A No. 2 district shall be created, Lowe emphasized that no other questions would be considered.“If the proposed district is created, then it will be time to discuss locations of facilities and other matters,” he said.
