Herbert Kincaid Charged With Firing Bullet Killing Officer PIERCED BREAST George Spangler Dies in Short Time After Being Hit Herbert Kincaid, of Oswald, want ed for the alleged murder of George Spangler, at Oswald Saturday night, is still at large despite the best ef forts of all law enforcement agen cies to catch him. Authorities be lieve that he has found refuge in the home of some friend, George Spangler, one of the best known officers in this county, a spec ial agent for the Nanawha, Glen ean and astern, went to the Rake home, at Oswald, to arrest Herbert Kincaid and his brother, Wallace, according to information given the D Post-Herald by officers. Wile put ting handcuffs on Wallace, Herbert elipped out the door, Spangler fol lowed him out, and Herbert then shot him, with a pistol, thru the breast. The Rake home is but a short distance from the Spangler home, but the stricken officer died while being carried there. One of the Kincaids is said to have married a Rake girl, and a warrant had been issued for him on a non-support charge. This warrant is said to have been the occasion of their visit at the Rake home, Herbert Kincaid ¢ said to have been released recently from Fort Leavesworth, after serv ing a federal sentence on a charge of slaying. All wires between Oswald, which is located near Mount Hope and Tamroy, and this city were inoper ative due to their burden of snow and sleet. State police of this city were notified by messenger, three hours after the tragedy, which oc curred about 8 o'clock. Arriving at the scene, they found that Fayette county officers and state police from Cannelton had already been noti fied, also by messenger. All joined in the search, which lasted all thru the night, and much of yesterday. Clues took them in all directions, but none of them has yet resulted in 2 capture.
