Runaway in Jail.f.VS committed to the jail of Claiborne county, Miss., as a runaway, on the 3d inst., by N. McDougall. Esq., a Justice of the Peace in and for said county, a negro man, who says his name isSam,aod hi« wife, who says her name isWary Jane,they first said that they belonged to Hanse Lanebart of Copiah county, Miss., but since say that they belong to Thomas Powell, a negro trader and that they ranaway rora the steamer Mohawk, at a wood yard, above Vicksburg, about three weeks since, on her way to New Orleans.Tom is about 5 feei 10 inches high about 35 years old; black complexion, etout, well made, and has a sear on his breast. He had on when committed course white cotton pants and under shirt and fine cotton over-shirt, white cotton roundabout and white wool hat.Mary Jane is about 5 feet 8 inches high, about 24 years old, black complexion, stout well made she had on when committed coarse white cotton frock and a blue spotted Calico dr8ss.The owner of the above described negroes is hereby notified to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take them away, or they will be dealt with accordingt'law.
