Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, 1990 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Rev. Michael Zolnosky officiated.He was bom Jan. 14,1904 in Dows, the son of James and Caroline Johnson Bergen. He attended country school in rural Popejoy, and later he and Estella Cox were married. They lived in Hardin and Wright counties. He farmed, and worked at Clifton grocery store. He also spent several years as an agent with the Railway Express Agency in Red Oak, and upon his retirement worked for the Powell school for three years. In 1979 he moved to Hubbard and had resided atâ– Feb. 15,1990 the Colonial Manor nursing home the past two years. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, and Iowa Falls Moose Lodge.Surviving are two daughters, Caroline Tungate of Flora, 111.; and Judy Walters of rural New Providence; one sister; five grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.
