OBITUARYMary .Frances McManatnan, eldest daughter of James and Lydia McMana-fflao, was born near Butlerville, Indiana, April 14, 1856, and departed this life February 11, 1913, aged 56 years, 9 months! 27 days. She prepared to teach in the schools of the connty while j still very young and began to teach atI about the age of seventeen. She continued her school work until her marriage with Jesse G. Milhous, May 23,1878.She was converted when about nineteen years old and united with the United Brethern church, but after herII marriage she obtained a letter and presented it to the Hopewell Friends church, it being nearer their home, and continued as a member of that denomination until her death.About a year ago they decided to come to Southern California to obtain a much needed rest and try to regain lost health, but Mrs. Milhous had contracted a disease that was beyond human skill to cure and she continued to. grow weaker. Although her suffering was intense, she bore it very patiently and remarked during her sickness that she could understand why she was permitted to suffer so much—that it prepared her to go and that she was now ready.There are left to mourn their loss besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Grace A West of Yorba Linda, California; one son, Walter R. Milhous of Butlerville, Ind.,‘ who could not be present. Besides rearing and caring for her own children she partially raised three others, among whom was Mrs. Louie Stanley, of Butlerville,Ind., who was as dear to her as her own daughter. One sister, Mrs, Edna Hall of Azalia, Ind., was with her at the time of her death. An aged father and one brother of Isabel, Kansas, one brother of Miami, Okla., and one sister near Brewersville, Indiana, also a number of other relitives and a host of friends.Adv. * **
