Arnold’s Store-House and Havildnd’s Cooper Sliop, in the B. A. Freight Yard, Destroyed — Losses Estimated at Si 10,000—Partially Insured.About 10.30 o’clock last night an alarm of fire called out the fire department in this village, and it was discovered that the big frame building about 150x27 feet jn dimensions, located near the main freight house in the yard of the Boston Albany railroad, was on fire.The fire appeared to have originated in the eastern end of the building, which was occupied by Hezekiah Arnold, of Ghent. It was filled with pressed bay, grain, flour, etc., and although the firemen were prompt in turning three streams of water upon the blaze, the flames Soon burst through the roof and big columns of fire mounted high in the air.Tbe fire soon spread to the westernportion of the structure, in which waslocated the barrel factory of R. S. Havi-land Son, of Chappaqua, N. Y., lickingup 1,800 barrels stored in the upper floorand destroying stock representing about 8,000 barrels.The flames from this burning mass of hard wood were so fierce that it was only by the most persistent labors of the firemen that the big transfer house, which almost adjoins the cooperage shop, was saved from igniting. The main freight house at the eastern end of the burning building also had a narrow escape from taking fire.The fireman are still busy turning waterupon the debris at the time we go to press this morning, having been on duty continuously upwards of twelve hours.It is estimated that tha aggregate losses of the B.
