STOCK BREEDERS.Meeting of the JurkAon C'onufy llrrcihti‘ AtaMoclatlon.—A called meeting of the Jackson County Breeders’ Association was held at the court-house, in Independence, last Saturday morning, the object of which was to select a purchasing committee. A majority ot the etock subscribed was represented.On motion, it was decided to select tho committeemen by ballot. After which nominations were made and voting began, resulting in the selection of the following-named gepilemen as the purchasing committee: C. C. Chiles, H. M. Vaile and Cornelius Chrysler.On motion of H. C. Chiles, the first clause of Rule 7, Section 3, of the bylaws was rescinded, after having been made the subject of considerable debate. This clause limited the price to be paid per head for stock to a given amount. As it is now rescinded, the matter will be left to the discretion and good judgment of the purchasing committee.On motion, tbo stockholders’ meeting adjourned, whereupon a call was made for a meeting of the directors. The meeting was them called to order, and the minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.On motion, it was decided that twenty-five per cent of the stock subscribed be assessed each member, and that the assessment be paid into the treasury within the ensuing thirty days.The board of directors suggested that the purchasing committee authorize Mr. Sammel Jewett, who is about starting for Vermont, to purchase an indefiuite number of Merino sheep for the association. After some debate the suggestions were acted upon, and the purchasing committee instructed accordingly, whereupon the meeting adjourned to meet again two weeks hence.ThiB organization, we are pleased to learn, is ia a flourishing condition. It is an association which is sure to be productive of much good, inasmuch as its object is to improve the live stook of our country, and at the same time afford our farmers generally an opportunity of possessing the finest and best of sheep, hogs and cattle, at prices within the reach of everyone. That the association will meet with success and receive ihe support it merits we believe, inasmuch as we have an abiding faith in the enterprise, thrift and good judgment of the farmers of Jackson county.
